Dr. I.V.Rao, Principal

Dr.I.V.Rao obtained his B.Tech. degree (First class with Distinction) in Chemical Engineering from Andhra University College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam in the year 1969. He then pursued his graduate studies in Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and obtained M.Tech. degree in 1971 and Ph.D. (Chemical Engineering) degree in 1977.

Dr. Rao joined University College of Technology, Osmania University as Lecturer in Chemical Engineering in the year 1978 and was promoted as Reader in 1984 and as Professor in 1992 in Osmania University.

While serving the University College of Technology, he was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship by the United States Educational Foundation in India and served the State University of New York at Buffalo, Buffalo, USA, during 1984-1987. He also had the honor of working as a Visiting Professor with the University of South Florida, Tampa, USA, during the summer of 2007. He presented technical papers in two international conferences held at Sydney, Australia and at Copenhagen, Denmark in the year 2007.

During his service with Osmania University till his superannuation in 2008, Prof. Rao has held various administrative positions such as the Controller of Examinations, Dean, Faculty of Technology and Principal, University College of Technology. During his stewardship of the University College of Technology, the college was granted TEQIP funds by the World Bank in 2003 for the improvement of quality of technical education. He has published technical papers in national and international journals.

Dr. I.V.Rao took over as the Principal of Vasavi College of Engineering during October 2011.
